  • Full service Veterinary Clinic
  • Award-winning Regional Practice
  • Active Community Participation Program
  • $100k + Super + Benefits Package
At Redgum Vet and Pet Boarding we are big enough to know, and small enough to care…
For more than 30 years Dr Roger Absalom and our team of passionate, enthusiastic Veterinary professionals have been providing best practice Veterinary care to Port Augusta and the local regional community.
Whilst we have built a solid reputation for quality Veterinary services across a very wide range of animals from pocket pets to companion animals to horses and cattle, and yes, even the occasional camel, what we are best known for is our ability to think on our feet and always act in the interests of our patients and clients.
We have open and honest team meetings and our team are involved in setting our goals, strategies and plans and then we all strive to meet them. We believe that our team and our teamwork is what makes us great. Our workplace has developed into an environment we are proud to be part of, and especially proud to lead. The staff roles at Redgum are varied; each one is respected and admired as part of the total team effect.

Our Offer

We know that you are not primarily motivated by money and fame, but we are also practical and down-to-earth enough to know that we all have a life to lead and friends and family to support, and so our offer guideline is:
  • A salary of $100k + Super
  • 4 day working week
  • Contribution towards Continuing Education
  • AVA membership (inclusive of 2 specialty group memberships)
  • 1 in 4 weekends on call and shared A/H call amongst the team

About The Job

As a seasoned Vet with some experience under your belt, you already have a pretty good idea of what a typical day looks like in a significant regional practice – you also know that there are very few “typical” days. You will of course:
  • Examine animals, small and large and exotic, to diagnose their health problems and recommend best practice treatment
  • Consult with clients regarding preventive care for their pets
  • Conduct soft tissue surgery at an intermediate level
  • Maintain patient care records in as appropriately detailed and timely manner
  • Offer phone support and advice to isolated, outback/rural clients
  • Be confident in your own skills and abilities; open to new ideas, concepts and personal/professional development

Of critical importance is your diagnostic ability, both in terms of active care but also in relation to preventative care.
Although flexibility is important, our manning levels are normally based on a four-day week. We are based in town, but we also serve the region so some local travel and day trips is required.
You will be supported by a talented and enthusiastic Veterinary team who are encouraged to keep learning and to bring those new skills to their work every day.

About You

You are experienced, with around three years of working across a mix of small and large animal clinics and hospitals, and you are comfortable to an intermediate level with soft tissue surgery.
You are quietly confident from a technical and quality of Veterinary care perspective and can give guidance in a supportive and encouraging manner. You also know when its time to insist on adherence to protocols even under trying circumstances.
You will value the team environment and see your own role as significant in meeting team goals.
In addition to your Veterinary skills, you also have an enquiring mind, are worldly and you also just plain fun to work with and to be around.

About Our Location
